Friday, I love Fridays. I used to hate Fridays when I was training Racing Greyhounds. Our big time was Friday, Saturday and Sunday. It was yucky. Now I work my 5 days a week and can do what I want on the weekends. AAAHHHHHHH.
I have to fill you in on my lastest obsession......Button Collecting. Does that sound stupid or what? But I have always loved putting my hands through a big bucket or can of buttons. Not new buttons, old grandma type buttons. Buttons that you don't know where they came from. I go to auctions and always bid on the old buttons. I can just picture the old gramma, sitting there fixing clothes for her family, using these buttons. So many different types and colors and textures. I love it. Right now I have a couple thousand old, cool buttons. I wash them with bactrial stuff and then dry them. I brought them to school and showed the kids. They loved looking through all the different sizes, and all the colors, and even some with pictures on them. I showed them the big, odd ones and called them 'Grandma buttons.' We even used them on a lesson for the 3 yr olds. Asking what is different about these two buttons? One is big , one is small, smooth, rough, two holes, four holes, what color are they? It is a very good observation lesson.
Some people have worry stones, I have a huge container of old, colorful buttons. I love it. One card of half used buttons I got at the auction said on it...'Ed's Sweater'. How cool is that? Think of the stories behind my buttons. Ok, so it sounds nutty, I will not become the weird, old, wacky button lady. Call it therapy. It settles me down, and relaxes me. I love to touch all my buttons. I have used the word button..16 times in this blog. I think. I can't wait to see if I get any comments on this blog. Have a wonderful, fall weekend everyone. Peace......Gail....p.s. clean out your belly button.

Gail,
I am so amused by your button collection, Who knew? I think it's a great hobby, sort of how I used to feel about quilts. All the history and untold stories.
Today I mentioned this blog on the way to church and Denver piped up with, "I have some buttons Aunt Gail could have." Give him a call if you want em.
Love you, Barb
Denver, if you really want to give them up, I'll give them a good home. I love you..Aunt Gail
I love buttons too Gail! I haven't had time to actively collect any old ones, but I do have grandma's button box and if I'm at a fabric store or somewhere and see come crazy buttons, I buy them whether or not they'll ever be attached to a garment. The fun is the possibility!
Aunt Gail, this blog made me smile! I recently learned how to crochet from Laurie's friend, Kelly, and I feel like a little old lady. I look in my purse, and I have yarn, a crossword puzzle book, hard candies and a little beaded pouch for tissue (with a cute button, I might add!) Anyhow, I just wanted to say thanks for making me smile, and more importantly, thanks for keeping us in your prayers. I love you.
Katie
I love looking at buttons! I remember, as a kid, looking through my mom's collection of buttons. She kept them in a big glass jar. I think it is a neat collection to have!
Thank you for your note. I love getting comments. =)
I have been to CO once and LOVED it. My aunt and uncle had a condo in Keystone. I got to see Red Rock...beautiful part of the country. Much different than Florida.
hi aunt gail~
you were bound to be bitten by the button bug sooner or later! down south, ok, texas, i see lots of crafts with buttons and i bet you could top them all. something you would like is a clear glass lamp to fill with your buttons that way you could see them and they would not collect dust.
and, from one who knows lonely and far away from home, fresh air and mountains sounds like great therapy. coffee with a friend or a walk with your favorite pooch always helps, too. write in your blog, look at pictures, go to the mall and play 20 questions with the food court restaurants... oh, sorry, that's me!
i wish you could send the blizzard to malaysia... we're burning up!
love chryl
